As always, things aren't going exactly as planned over in Flushing. I've been to all the games this month, and as promised, I've recapped most of them. Unfortunately, I haven't had the stamina after a few of the games this week to write these entries. Hey, it's September. I'm a Mets fan. Put the two together and give me a break. The last thing I want to do after getting off the local N train after a loss at midnight, and walking through the smelly, dirty streets is recap a lackluster performance. No. I want to go home say hello to the pets, eat something, watch a movie, preferably one I've seen dozens of times already and sleep.
I will keep my promise of recapping all of these games, along with My Shea Memories but I've decided to wait until Monday to do so in order to do these recaps justice. I've jotted down lots of different subjects, memories, etc. I've also taken dozens of photos and videos, though the good and the bad. So I will resume Monday after the storm subsides.
But wow. What's a Mets fan to do in this scenario. Just stand and take it. That's all a fan can do. It's like a bad marriage. Another disappointing ending is looming. I will root hard, as always but in the back of my mind, of course I'm preparing myself for the doom that may be to come.
I love Shea. And it's surreal to call this the final weekend. I don't know exactly how to react at the moment, especially at the heels of another missed playoff birth. Let's just pray for a Mets win, a Brewers loss and take it from there, as destiny is no longer in the Amazins hands. It really is amazing. Sunday afternoon's farewell will be unforgettable either way.
So this will all likely be posted Tuesday, meaning recaps from 6-1 and one final farewell entry.
That's all for now. Talk to you soon.
